Frequently Asked Questions
What training methods do you use?
We use balanced, relationship first approach. We focus heavily on clear communication, mutual trust, and establishing structure rather than relying on endless treat bribes. While we use positive reinforcement to build foundational skills, we also provide clear, fair boundaries so your dog learns real world reliability.
How long are the training sessions?
Our initial foundation session is a comprehensive evaluation and training kickoff that lasts approximately one hour. Follow-up private sessions are highly focused, high-intensity modules typically lasting 45 minutes. We intentionally keep active training sharp and precise because dogs learn best in focused bursts before mental fatigue sets in. We wrap up every session by building your custom weekly homework blueprint together.
Do I have to do the Canine Good Citizen Test?
Absolutely not—taking the official test is entirely optional and up to you! We structure our foundational curriculum around the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) framework simply because it focuses on practical, real-world manners. If you choose to take the official test at the end of your package, I include the certification testing completely free of charge. It’s a wonderful, stress-free milestone that can unlock great local perks, like waived apartment pet deposits or insurance benefits!
What if i just need help with one specific issue and do not need Basic Obedience?
Most isolated behavioral problems—like door rushing, leash lunging, or selective hearing—are actually deeply rooted in a lack of underlying structure and relationship communication. While we customize every single lesson package to target your dog's specific problem areas right away, we do not offer stand-alone, single sessions. Real, lasting behavioral change takes consistency and professional coaching. Our customized 4 and 5-lesson frameworks ensure we fix the root cause of the issue so you get permanent results.
Will I be expected to train on my own? If so, how often?
Yes—but it’s much easier than you think! Training isn't about setting aside hours of chore time; it's about shifting how you interact with your dog during normal daily routines. Following your session, we hand you a customized micro-homework blueprint. We recommend just 10 to 15 minutes of focused practice a day, which can easily be broken into short, fun 5-minute bursts. This keeps training highly engaging for your dog, fits perfectly into a busy schedule, and turns everyday moments into opportunities to build a rock-solid relationship.
Do I need to drive my dog out to your ranch for training, or do you travel to Texarkana?
We accommodate both options seamlessly! For our Private In-Home Coaching packages and E-Collar Mastery programs, we travel directly to your home and neighborhood. For our premier residential program—The Rural Decompression Program—clients love bringing their pups out to experience our peaceful, multi-acre ranch sanctuary. However, if your schedule is packed, we can easily coordinate a convenient local drop-off and pickup right from your home.
What health and vaccination requirements do you have for your on premise immersion program?
To protect the health and safety of all our training clients and our resident sanctuary pack, every dog enrolled in our immersion program must be completely up-to-date on core vaccinations—including Rabies and DHPP (Distemper/Parvo), and Bordatella. Additionally, all dogs must be actively current on a monthly, vet-approved flea and tick preventative. A clear veterinary health record is required prior to your dog's residential stay."
Is my dog too young or too old to start one of your programs?
It is never too early to build a clear relationship, and it is rarely too late! We accept puppies as young as 16 weeks old (once they have completed their full puppy vaccine series) for our Private In-Home Coaching to stop bad habits before they start. For our advanced e-collar work and immersion residencies, we customize the daily exercise and boundaries to match your dog's physical age and stamina perfectly, ensuring a safe, low-stress experience for everyone from energetic teenagers to stable seniors.
Please note: For our e-collar mastery programs, all dogs will be evaluated for foundational basic obedience skills before proceeding as a solid baseline of manners is absolutely crucial to safe and successful e-collar training.
Do you work with dogs that show severe aggression, reactivity, or separation anxiety?
Yes- in fact, we specializae in these complex cases. We have deep, extensive experience working with fearful, highly reactive, anxious dogs that other traditional programs turn away. To ensure complete safety and accuaracy, we require a comprehensive initial evaluation before designing a plan. Because each case is completely unique, this evaluation allows us to customize the exact right curriculum - whehter through private coaching or residential immersion - to set your dog up for real world success.
Where will my dog stay during the residential immersion program? Inside or Outside?
Your dog is treated like a member of our family. All our residentail immersion students sleep comfortably inside our secure, climate controlled home. While they spend plenty of structuted training time, daily exercise time, and socialization time outside across our beautifu acreage during the day, they are always brought indoors to rest, decompress, and sleep safely at night.
